Kigali — The visiting delegation of politicians from Tanzania and Ethiopia has blamed western colonialists for being responsible for the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The politicians, who are representing their countries in joining Rwandans to commemorate the Genocide, said this after visiting Gisozi Memorial Centre on Monday.
"This is a horrible tragedy for Rwanda, and it is also a huge failure of the international community in peacekeeping mission," said the deputy secretary general of the Tanzanian ruling party, Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM), George Mkuchika.
"The blame goes to the colonialists who divided us; they are responsible for everything that happened in this country."
The historical documentation at the Centre of victims of the Genocide offered grim testimonies to the delegations of how the genocide was organised and executed.
"Let us remember what happened here and learn from the errors that allowed this to take place. We as Africans have to do the best we can to maintain our peace."
Mkuchika is also the Tanzanian Minister of Information, Sports and Culture.
Speaking after a tour of the multi-storied building that holds neatly stuck posters and video screens bearing testimonies, the Executive Member of the Ethiopian Peoples' Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), Redwan Hussein, who is also the Head of Public Relations of his party in Addis Ababa blamed the colonizers for being the root cause of the Genocide.
"We stand on hallowed ground where blood was shed...what happened here was a failure of every member of the international community. It was not our finest hour and Rwanda fell to its near death," Hussein said.
He added: "The genocide in Rwanda was against the African core existence of love and peace; this is the time we should focus at build firm roots of our continent never to experience such a tragedy." He said that his excitement lies in Rwanda's reconstruction and its progress in development.
The delegations were accompanied to the Memorial Centre by MP Francis Kaboneka.

African leaders are complacent in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda because they were always willing to use the weapons handed to them by the same people they blame for dividing them. Once given small bribes, these African elites do turn on their own citizens by displacing or slaughtering them instead of protecting them!!
African countries are in debt up to their eyeballs from purchasing second hand weapons from foreign powers controlling them. These weapons are always used to for genocide by African leaders.
Weapons do not by themselves kill people. Foreign weaponn in the hands of Genocidal African leaders kill poor Africans citizens. Once African elites get some bribes, they are happy to kill other Africans without blinking. That is why the continent is poverty striken! African elites seem to be only there to control or kill poor Africans under their rule.
What!!!!!!!!!, black "brothers" who murder each other is blamed on the west. Where did these idiots go to school. Robert Mugabe's School of Soshal Ecocomics.
1994 resources driven Rwandan genocide would not have taken place had it not been forthe genocidal African elites willing to spill the blood of poor innocent men, women and children to make a statement who among them were better homeguards than the other.
Unless the downing of the the plane carrying president Habyarimana and Burindi's president is fully investigated and the culprit brought to justice, Rwanda will always be ruled by the power of the guns and assassinations.
These homeguards have acquired weapons and blood wealth, which make them more brutal the the colonialist they replaced at independence. To the corporation looters supporting their stay in power, they are very loyal and well paid security guards. To poor Africans under their menacing rules, they are unpredicted psychotic murderous responsible for underdevelopment, diseases and genocide in exchange for bribes!
