Nigeria: Dokubo-Asari Rejects Amnesty

12 April 2009

LEADER of the Niger-Delta People Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo -Asari says that neither he nor any other member of the group is a militant and that they do not need to be granted amnesty by the Federal Government.

The NDPVF in a press statement, signed by Comrade Rex Anighoro stated, "We wish to state that our movement do not understand nor subscribe (whatever it means) to what the Federal Government of Nigeria, led by Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'Adua means by the terminology "militant" or what it means by granting amnesty to militants. Whatever such statement means, it is pellucid that Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari and the entire NDPVF are not party to such arrangement".
