Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hawks on Friday held out their desire for deployment of troops for the governorship ballot rerun in Ekiti, with House of Representatives Speaker, Dimeji Bankole, warning that the police may not be able to guarantee security in the event of violent clashes.

Bankole faces rising criticisms nationwide over his statement last Saturday that the Presidency would deploy troops to ensure a free and fair poll and safeguard lives in the April 25 rerun election - the same view he tacitly referenced in Lagos on Friday when reporters confronted him with questions regarding the poll.
