Assab — Various infrastructure facilities and social services worth over 19 million Nakfa were put in place in Assab town in the year 2008, according to Mr. Berhane Iyasu, Administrator of the town.

In a report he presented at the city council meeting, Mr. Berhane indicated that the action program for last year gave priority attention to the task of raising revenue in which over 17 million Nakfa was secured.

He further pointed out that concerted action would be made this year as regards reinforcing development programs and ensuring reliable potable water supply, among others.

Following discussion on the report, members of the city council adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations, including the need to strengthening educational activities, maintaining the town's sanitation and stepping up contribution in the construction of youth recreation centers.
