Kampala — The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has called for the creation of a national emergency response unit to respond to chemical effects.
Dr. David Ogaram, a consultant with the National Environment Management Authority also calls for a law to regulate such chemicals.
Dr Ogaram says 98% of chemicals imported have a production and natural resource base but there is no response unit to deal with these chemicals in cases of explosion.
He also calls for training of technical staff that can identify and handle explosions in case of disasters.
