African Voices and the Bank PHB Brand
In these tough times, PHB has learnt to put its money where its mouth is. Prior to Bank PHB's decision to dole out the sponsorship cost for African Voices on CNN International, it made it clear that its mission is associate its brand with Africa's iconic personalities that have struggled through daunting challenges to remarkably leave their footprints in the sands of time. This clearly resonates with the Bank PHB brand persona - think possible. Come to think of it, only those who "think possible" can achieve milestones in their chosen fields worthy of celebration on a global platform that African Voices has become. Such is the inexplicable connection between a sponsorship move and its attendant ripple effect on brand equity. Bank PHB has clearly got it right. This is quite instructive for brand managers in the corporate world to see sponsorship beyond mere visibility for the brand. Sponsorships as avenues for reputation building must be in sync with the brand personality. African Voices airs on CNN International on Saturday at 12.30 pm and 7.30 p.m with repeat broadcast on Sunday (at 6 p.m.)
