Asmara — Major development programs focusing on health service, potable water supply, irrigation farming and road renovation are being implemented in Adi-Quala sub-zone, Mr. Sium Geresus, Administrator of the sub-zone, disclosed.
In a meeting with the inhabitants of the sub-zone, he indicated the construction of a communal hospital at a cost of 12 million Nakfa is nearing finalization and would provide health service to more than 40,000 people in the administrative areas of Adi-Mekeda, Fikiya Chekemte, Adi-Burkut, Adi-Sheretai, Geza-Hamlai, Adi-Nala and the Endagergis semi-urban center.
Mr. Sium further explained that the Sememo Micro-dam with a capacity of holding about 2 million cubic meters of water has been renovated and is already providing potable water supply to the local inhabitants. The newly constructed micro-dam in Bet-Gebreal at an expenditure of 1.5 million Nakfa with a capacity of holding over 70,000 cubic meters of water is also making due contribution in alleviating potable water supply problems in Bet-Gebreal, Adi-Haber, Mosoda, Adi-Kolakul and Una-Gaeben, he added.
Moreover, Mr. Sium pointed out that a 10 km-long road connecting Bet-Gebreal with Mai-Alba that used to cause transport problems is being renovated for efficient service.
The participants of the meeting reiterated readiness to back up the development endeavors and asked for speedy allotment of tiessa land.
