Angola: Houses for CAN2010 Teams Ready By May

Cabinda — The T3 residences being built in the Olympic village, in Cabassango ward, northern Cabinda province, meant for national teams of one of the phases of the African Cup of Nations (CAN2010) in football, are expected to be expected to be concluded by late May, ANGOP learnt at the site.

The urbanisation of the residential complex also includes the construction leisure areas, social infrastructures such as the health centre, fitness centre, industrial laundry room, restaurants, and multi-sports fields, among others.

For two days, the deputy ministers of Public Works and of Youth and Sports, Joanes André and Yaba Alberto, worked in the locality, where they assessed the implementation rate of the works of the football stadium in the province that will host CAN2010, the olympic village and the 250 houses of the Buco Ngoio residential complex.

According to the executive director of the competition's organising committee (COCAN) in Cabinda, Inocêncio Júnior, the undertaking registered a great progress and at the moment some finishing touches are expected.

He added that another housing complex also dubbed "Buco Ngoio" is being built with 250 T3 houses, from which 150 will accommodate the media, sports officials and invited guests.

Inocêncio Júnior said that apart from other lodging facilities, the Simulambuco hotel will accommodate officials of COCAN and of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), whilst the Pôr do Sol hotel will lodge CAF and FIFA officials, as well as referees.
