Madagascar: Statement by the Presidency of the Republic of Madagascar

22 April 2009

press release

Pretoria — His Excellency, Marc Ravalomanana, President of the Republic of Madagascar, and President Kgalema Motlanthe, President of South Africa and current Chairperson of SADC, met yesterday in Pretoria. Their meeting was preceded by a visit earlier in the day to Gaborone where President Ravalomanana met with President Seretse Khama Ian Khama of Botswana.

President Ravalomanana discussed the current situation in Madagascar with both President Motlanthe and President Khama. He thanked both President Motlanthe and President Khama for the support of their countries as well as SADC. He offered special congratulations to President Motlanthe for his service to South Africa on the eve of democratic elections. President Ravalomanana will be closely observing today’s elections.

The President repeated his intention to “work with all parties who respect the Constitution and rule of law” upon his return to Madagascar. All those that support democracy and peace will have a voice in re-building an inclusive government.

President Ravalomanana rejected any possibility of sharing power with Andry Rajoelina and members of the High Transition Authority. “They broke the law and carried out a coup d’état that was condemned by the entire international community.” He noted that it would be up to the judicial courts to decide on the consequences of their actions. “That is not my job but I will support the decision of an independent judiciary once the rule of law is restored.”

President Ravalomanana continues to work toward a peaceful solution to the situation in Madagascar. He is preparing for a return to Madagascar in the coming weeks.

The speech of ex-president in Africa is not at all shocking in the end. It is pathetic with these egregious crimes of lies in which even his most fanatical supporters are not. A president who, it has been proven several times, can speak about a subject so contradictory after the language he uses, and depending on his audience. Thus it is not difficult for him to convince his ex-peers African SADC that he was forced to resign this famous 17 March 2009, a gun to his temple! Mythomaniac we know but not to the point of manifest aspects to an assembly of heads of state. For this detail, he did not tell his supporters who cling desperately to a partial transfer of powers or the coup. Yet we know the people who were with him that day at the Palais d'Iavoloha including U.S. Ambassador Niels Marquardt and emissaries of the United Nations that should confirm this scene worthy of the script for a film series B. Then he tells the flight of his children in the forest. Immediate reaction: his supporters knew that their children had already left the country to the outside on flights. There is no need to insist or to revert to the other passages of his speech with demagogy and hoaxes are a disgrace to the country to have had for seven years as leader

The US ambassador has made a statement that he himself was threatened at gun point at the infamous debacle on March 17. If the military threatens an ambassador do you think they would not threaten the president. It is Rajoelina that has poisoned the people with lies and propaganda. He is someone who feeds on the jealousy and hatred of people to get his way. He accuses Ravolamana of misconduct but Rajoelina accepts no responsibilities of his own, like when recently the HAT military shot and killed a citizen in the back. To shoot a fleeing person is very aggressive to say the least. What plan does Rajoelina has for the country? He has no economic plan. He has disassembled a few things that Ravalomana did. Is this the great plan of a self declared ruler? This is the point, Rajoelina has not been voted in office and he would not be in power if the mutinous army did not give it to him. It is an abomination of democracy; it is antidemocratic. Malagasy deserves better. Madagascar has been robbed by Rajoelina and his ministers. What about the threats from the military and the HAT to the public including to teachers and to the hospital staff. Ravolamana has been a good president, The best president Madagascar has had so far. You may not like it but his success in business has been good for the country. Perhaps he has a monopoly of the diary business, but would you rather see that monopoly in the hands of the vazaha instead? Ravolamana is a malagasy businessman investing and putting money back into the malagasy economy. I fear that if this coup d’etat government does not step down there will be more in the future. The next one could be bloodier. Rajoelina has given an example for the next hotshot putschist to take over.

We can't deny that the president Ravalomanana can be accused of numerous mistakes since he couldn't separate his own business with the state ones. But we can't, as well, lose sight on the fact that he remains the best President that Madagascar never had. What happened within the last 3 months is that Malagasy with Andry Rajoelina are increasingly digging the hell borehole where they will push their own children. Another fact which confirms that the lack of education in black Africa in general but particularly in Madagascar is a weapon that these power fooled leaders, Andry Rajoelina or whoever, will use. In spite of the determination of a Man who is Ravalomanana to change this poor mentality by investing a lot in non negotiable Childhood Education... a solution which just threatened ex-colonist such as France, simply because this will prevent them from tricking as they are used to. In fact, those who should fight for independence are the The European countries like France… They are too dependant, they rely a lot on Africans… It’s tome for Madagascar to fight for France Independence… and it just started.

As a matter of fact, Madagascar is trapped in their own deep floodable trench now... But still, the HAT is proud of their result and put all the faults in the ousted President back... accusing him of being the only reason of the critical situation. That is what we are used to call non-responsible government... throwing the hot potato like kids are used to do. Shaming!

Let's assume that Ravalomanana was a very bad President... Do you think that he would be helpless as the new government is today? He is well-known as man of field and jumped in all opportunity to help Malagasy as far as he can. But in lieu of doing so, Andry Rajoelina (HAT) spend more time and money on criticizing the ousted President... which is normal because they have nothing in the purse and still have no concrete project. Let's feed the people with hate of the former regime! Let's destroy the least we have! Who cares???

Yes Madagascar needs some aids but now, in front of the crisis, we don't need such help. Why? because I personally call International Communities no to help us with this government of Higher Transitional Authority. This government is not legal that's why we "Legalists" cried our freedom to overpower this government. The help that we need urgently is to help us to push this government of coup d'état. We don't like this because French country is behind of this. Modern colonization is now returned in our country . This is due with fool french country. Our President Marc Ravalomanana should be finished his mandat until 2011. TGV as it called destroys our economy, social and especially mental. How can we restore our country if it continues for a long time. We are afraid of that situation. Help us to recover from this
