Lagos — Even when Taraba State is battling how to survive the global economic crisis, Augustine Osayande writes on the recent bribery scandal which rocked the state and how the development has continued to claim many casualties

Taraba State is in the news again. This time, it is over a case of bribery scandal rocking the rural and poverty stricken state. The recent bribery scandal in the North-east state was master minded by the Chairman of Taraba State's Civil Service Commission, Dr. Yuguda Kaigama. Investigation revealed that the chairman of the state's Civil Service Commission and two fake Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials forged the state governor's signature in a letter they wrote to the 16 local government chairmen of the state where they demanded the sum of N3.5 million as bribe for some operatives of the EFCC to drop the investigation by the state governor of the local government chairmen for alleged financial crimes.
