Nigeria: National Assembly Pledges Support for Nigcomsat 2&3

The National Assembly has pledged its commitment to assist the Nigerian Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) to appropriate adequate funds for NigComSat 2&3.

A statement signed by NigComSat Manager, Internal communications, Samiya H. Usman said the Deputy Senate President made this pledge during a recent visit to the company's ground station complex in Abuja.

While stating that the National Assembly would work towards the actualization of NigComSat 2&3, Senator Ike Ekweremadu however urged the management to bring in stakeholders, particularly top government officials and heads of industries to appreciate the technological drive Nigeria had made.

"The National Assembly will do everything to assist in the actualization of NigComSat 2 and 3 because it will not only help the country to become a contemporary of other nations but it is also commercially viable; it will also help us to be counted when technology issues are discussed", he said.

The statement added that NigComSat trained engineers now perform as well as their counterparts in the space industry in other parts of the world.
