Zimbabwe: 'New Constitution Paves Way For Poll Reforms'

Daniel Nemukuyu in Victoria Falls

29 April 2009

Harare — The decision by the inclusive Government to craft a new constitution creates opportunities for further electoral reforms, a deputy minister has said.

Officially opening a two-day workshop on challenges of election management and prospects for election reform in Zimbabwe here yesterday, Justice and Legal Affairs Deputy Minister Jessy Majome said the difficulties encountered in the previous polls could be overcome through revisiting the electoral laws and processes.

"With the agenda set by the new inclusive Government, particularly the people-driven constitutional reform that has begun, there are now currently real opportunities for reform.

"Democratic space has relatively increased signified by freer political activity, reduction in hate speech in the media and a relative enjoyment of basic human rights and freedoms.

"The inclusive Government has an open door policy that allows major stakeholders in the democratisation process to constructively engage policy-makers.

"This is merely a start and it should be acknowledged that as a process, a lot of input, resourcefulness and tenacity will be required from both ends," said Deputy Minister Majome.

She said Zimbabweans were capable of instituting electoral reforms on their own problems as demonstrated by the peaceful harmonised elections held in March last year.

"It is indisputable that the March 28 election showed the potential that we, as Zimbabweans, have in terms of instituting real reform.

"Even though the same elections were marred by some last-minute reversal of reforms, the election saw the opening up of public media to all political players and the ability to campaign in so-called no go areas for the opposition," she said.

The two-day workshop that was organised by the Zimbabwe Election Support Network in conjunction with the Electoral Institute of Southern Africa is being attended by senior Government officials, MPs and the civic society.

Wonder what $400 million in southern african credits look like? Probably a lot like those $billions in vouchers that uncle bob is passing around to the green bombers and the army. Im sure that these credits would be good for things like the farm inputs that the Zanuobos sold over the border; buying back hundreds of millions of foreign aid with imaginary money sounds like a wonderful plan. The boyz could just go over the border and turn it back into real cash. This would even prop up the imaginary farm credits which would lead to a huge imaginary farm suplus which could be sold again!! Bob could boast that he is the leader in imaginary credits economics. I dont see a real nobel prize here, but, who needs the nordics and their carbon credits anyway!

Dear Readers , There is a climate in America and the financial world that secretly has been

"cooking the books" while they rob us. For example most financial information that is

reported only focuses on "The Budget ". A Budget is the amount of money we would

need to run our household on a specific time schedule (e.g. weekly budget, monthly

budget, yearly budget ).

When they tell us they have a "Budget Deficit ", they are actually saying they don't have

enough money for the specific period the Budget is supposed to cover. There is a more

complete financial picture that many of us are kept from seeing. This picture is called "

THE COMPREHENSIVE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT ".

People like WALTER BURIEN & ALEX JONES exposed the schemes that have been

going on since 1945 in America alone !!! For more information do a search using " The

Comprehensive Annual Financial Report Exposed "..On YouTube Alex Jones &

Walter Burien share a documentary that they did in the 1990s.

[God Bless You Readers To Want To Know And Seek To Know The Truth]

[This inspiring poem was featuring in the movie “Coach Carter ”]

Our Deepest Fear Is Not That We Are Inadequate, Our Deepest Fear Is That We Are Powerful Beyond Measure. It Is Our Light , Not Our Darkness That Most Frightens Us.

We Ask Ourselves, Who Am I To Be Brilliant, Gorgeous, Talented, And Fabulous ?

Actually Who Are We Not To Be ? You Are A Child Of God.

Your Playing Small Doesn’t Serve The World.

There Is Nothing Enlightened About Shrinking So That Other People Won’t Feel Insecure Around You.

We Are All Meant To Shine, As Children Do.

We Were Born To Make Manifest The Glory Of God That Is Within Us.

It’s Not Just In Some Of Us; It’s In Everyone.

And When We Let Our Own Light Shine We Unconsciously Give Other People Permission To Do The Same.

And As We Are Liberated From Our Own Fear, Our Presence Automatically Liberates Others

God bless Africa May her glory be lifted high Hear our petitions .

God bless us, Your children God we ask You to protect our nation Intervene and end all conflicts Protect us, protect our nation, our nation.

From the blue of our heaven, From the depths of our sea, Over our eternal mountain ranges, Where the cliffs give answer.

Sounds the call to come together, And united we shall stand, Let us live and strive for freedom, In South Africa our land.

I too am inspired by the verse and prayer that you have cited. However, I am sorry to say that your first few paragraphs are economic nonsense. The comparison you appear to be reaching for is that of the "profit and loss statement" in contrast to the "balance sheet".

The first is comparable to a government's budget (though usually backward looking rather than forward), the second more akin to the national accounts, the usual measure being growth or otherwise of GDP.

Regrettably, Zimbabwe rates very lowly on either measure. I will not pretend to understand African custom or tradition. However it is a source of amazement to westerners that the people who held the governing and economic reins while Zimbabwe crashed still appear to have some support in Zimbabwe.

The choice for these people in a western country would be to resign in shame, or be forcibly removed. Because of this western tradition, there will be no economic aid to Zimbabwe while the authors of this catastrophe are still in office. No matter what Africans may think or say about this, it is the reality.

Trying to blame others when you are the leader of an organisation is just too childish to warrant a response.

I can see what Bobs going to say, The MDC has let the country down, we won't be able to feed our selves( Lines our back pockets). It is all the fault of the imperialistic west. We want unity according to the gospel of Robert Mugabe and nothing else will do. We the people(ZanuPF terrorists) need to show the world that we are a strong , vibrant and resilliant nation and until there is unity,(Death to the MDC) there will not be any progress(Decimation). This is why the outside world won't deal with the terrorist dictator. Simple solution, Bob must Go. What ever happened to Zimbabwe, that lovely country we once used to know, what ever happened to Zimbabwe, Oh I don't know, but Bob must go.

So Business Day comes with the same report as SW radio. It's clear Zola as long as the monster Mugabe and Zanu are around there will be no progress in Zimbabwe. This stupid GNU doesn't work offcourse. SA most probably wanted rest at the border, at least till the worldcup of soccer is over. That also gives the answer what the perfect moment for an uprising would be against criminal Mugabe. Odinga can tell you where a GNU brought him and his country after Kibaki stole the election. A dead end street is a dead end street no matter how many times the GNU tries to get through with Mugabe at the stirring wheel.
