Tunisia: Cabinet Meeting Focuses on New Development Programs

Tunis — President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali chaired a cabinet meeting on Wednesday in favor of 90 delegations throughout the country.

The meeting reviewed the results of the programs carried out within the integrated development program focusing on the improvement of the individual revenue and the promotion of agriculture which benefited some 290, 000 people in popular districts and 1, 7 million people in rural areas.

So as to strengthen the results already achieved the meeting decided new development measures among which

-The valorisation of agriculture and the preservation of the water and soil.

-The promotion of human resources, cultural heritage and promising sectors.

- The promotion of forested areas and archaeological sites.

-The promotion of rural centres and the creation of jobs as well as the promotion rural women.

- The setting up of projects in favour of located at the periphery of major urban areas.

- The setting up of spaces dedicated to young job seekers, among whom university graduates.

President Ben Ali recommended to associate regional and structures as well as the associative network and the beneficiaries of the project in view of ensuring the best conditions of their implementation, so as to include new sources of income and employments in favour of the beneficiaries of these projects.
