Dr. Eliud W. Wabukala was elected the 5th Anglican Primate and Archbishop of Kenya in a what the church described as a very peaceful, joyous and orderly election process.
Archbishop Wabukala was elected by a 158-member electoral college of the Anglican Church of Kenya that was gathered at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi last Friday, April 24.
He beat bishops Stephen Kewasis, Samson Mwaluda and Joseph Wasonga.
Bishop Wabukala 58, is married to Karen, and blessed with five adult children between thirty and twenty one years old.
He will succeed the Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Nzimbi who retires on June 30. Bishop Wabukala was consecrated and enthroned the first Bishop of Bungoma Diocese in 1996 where he has served for the last thirteen years.
Bishop Wabukala will be enthroned the 5th Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya on Sunday July 5 at the All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi, at 10.00 a.m.
