Africa: Eric Wainaina Named One of Africa's Kindhearted

2 May 2009

April has to be one of the most wonderful months for Eric Wainaina. He appeared on CCN's African Voices powered by Bank PHB; a feature that is broadcast on CNN. "Afro-pop sensation, political activist, Kenya's Eric Wainaina has been given a lot of titles, but with a new album coming out he could potentially be dubbed Africa's next world music star. He's performed across the world winning many accolades, but his roots are still in Kenya and he performs in Nairobi every week," African Voices wrote about him. "If you're not playing at home for the people you

write the music for, then you're off the mark," he told CNN. Eric Wainaina grew up saying that he was going to be a doctor, but his love for music reigned supreme. Shocked at first by his career choice, Eric's family supported his decision to venture into music from the very beginning.

He was once named by Africa Almanac.com amongst the top 100 Africans that had a huge impact on humanity across the the continent.
