Liberia: Firestone Liberia Reaches Out To Kparn Yah Community

Monrovia — The Management of Firestone Liberia has constructed, dedicated and turned over a hand pump to residents of the Kparn Yah Community outside Harbel.
Speaking Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at programs marking the dedicatory ceremony in the Kparn Yah Community, the Administrative Manager of Firestone Liberia, Mrs. Aumuo Abdallah Keshen, said that the hand pump project was part of the Community Outreach Program of the company from which other communities have benefited over the years.

Mrs. Keshen urged citizens of the community to utilize the hand pump properly so as to ensure its longevity. She noted that it is the pride of Firestone Liberia to always collaborate with communities outside its concession area through its Community Outreach Programs.

For his part, Margibi County District Number Three Representative, Saah R. Gbollie, who graced the occasion, thanked Firestone Liberia for its developmental initiatives in the county over the years, stressing that “let us accept this one and explore other avenues for more to come.” Representative Gbollie also told citizens of the Kparn Yah Community to always seek constructive means through which they can engage the company to carry out developments in their area. “I want for you to continue to dialogue with Firestone Liberia whenever you need something to be done for you and they will listen to you.” The Margibi County Representative reiterated.

Firestone Liberia Water and Sanitation Superintendent, Mr. Gabriel S. Flaboe,Sr. who spearheaded the construction of the hand pump earlier, presented the keys to Mrs. Keshen.

Accepting the keys to the hand pump on behalf of the residents, Senior Elder Wilfred B. David, expressed appreciation to Firestone Liberia for constructing the hand pump in their community, but appealed for assistance in other areas of needs.
He said members of the KparnYah Community were grateful to the company and entertained the hope that “this will not be the end of you helping us to improve our living conditions.”

The Quality Control Manager of Firestone Liberia, Mr. Washington Waka, Community Affairs Superintendent, Mr. Eric Mensah and some other senior staffers of Firestone Liberia were in attendance.
