Monrovia — The Board Chairman of WACSN/USA, Mr. Francis Nyepon said that his organization with consultation with the founder and President Mariah Morgan Lukey will renovate one of the four schools, furnish it with seating capacity and other school materials coupled with training for the teachers.
Mr. Nyepon made the assertion Monday, May 4, 2009, when his organization was invited by Representative Dave Koomey of District #8 to visit several schools in the district in order to assess their conditions.
Mr. Nyepon also told journalist that his organization is prepared to provide chairs for E. Jonathan Goodridge High School for before the onset of the West African Examination expected to begin on May 18, 2009.
The Board Chair of WACSN pointed out that education is the root for dialogue in the country if the people and authority of the Africa’s oldest nation means business in moving ahead. He urged the relevant authority to give attention to education, sanitation and health sectors of the country.
According to him, it is deplorable for students in the contemporary world and just in the Capital of the country for students seating on the floor learning is something that needs everyone efforts.
Speaking to journalists after the tour Representative Dave Kumah who won on the ticket of George Weah Congress for Democracy Change (CDC) said that he hopeful that WACSN will help on grounds they are organization always there for the masses.
Also making remark on Monday during the tour of school facilities, the Principal of the E. Jonathan Goodridge High School, George Nuway disclosed that sanitary condition in the school is terrible he said that the school lacks fresh toilet and safe drinking water and therefore request that WACSN help in such direction.
The West African Child Support Network (WACSN) is a local none governmental organization that engaged in helping the needed, providing scholarship to students both in high schools and universities in the country, WACSN also do agriculture activities, purifying of water, sanitation, adoption programs amongst others.
The four schools visited on Monday are the E. Jonathan Goodridge Elementary, Junior, and Senior in Bardnersville Estate, the Bardnersville Central High School, The Special Project School in Stephen Tolbert Estate Gardnerville and Euphmia K. Abdullai Public School on Dry Rice Road Bardnersville some of the students were seen seated on the floor while others standing copying notes as Kevin S. Tydehson reports.
