Somalia: Six Wounded As Lawmakers' Mogadishu Homes Attacked

The homes of two Somali lawmakers closely associated with the Islamic Courts Union (ICU) were attacked with hand grenades overnight Saturday, Radio Garowe reports.

The two lawmakers, identified as MP Mohamud Mire and MP Yusuf Hayle, were not harmed but six people including a bodyguard were wounded, the lawmakers said.

"This is the third attack on our homes and four of our family members were wounded," said MP Mire, who described the other two victims as a bodyguard and a female neighbor. The two homes are next to each other, he added.

MP Mire did not blame any specific group for the attack, but Islamist rebels have targeted government officials in Mogadishu in recent weeks.

Last month, one lawmaker was killed and two others were wounded in separate attacks described as targeted assassinations.
