Luanda — The presidents of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, and Cape Verde, Pedro Pires, Monday in Luanda, discussed bilateral cooperation and the political situation in Africa, with highlight to the ongoing situation in Guinea-Bissau.
"It was a very positive and useful meeting, held in an environment of great friendship and mutual trust," Pedro Pires told journalists after an hour meeting held at the "Cidade Alta" Presidential Palace.
The leader of the West African island nation considered the occasion as an opportunity to share ideas on several issues between the two Portuguese-speaking countries, mainly in the economic relations, once the political relations have been excellent.
Pedro Pires added that Angola and Cape Verde wish to push so high the economic relations as well as the political ties, with support of the governments and economic operators of both states.
The two statesmen also discussed the situation in Africa and Guinea-Bissau, in particular with view to find a peaceful solution capable of overcoming the crisis facing the West African country, stressed Pedro Pires who has been in Angola since Sunday, after a two-day private visit to South Africa.
