Nigeria: FG Requires N1.3 Billion to Control Malaria - Osotimehin

ABOUT N1.3 billion is required to put the burden of malaria under control in Nigeria, even as the world Bank is supporting the national malaria programme with an additional $300 million.Health Minister Prof. Babatunde Oshotimehin who disclosed this recently in Abuja at the National flag off Mass camping distribution of long lasting insecticide nets, said over 60 million treated mosquito nets would be distributed to Nigerian households by the end of 2010.

The Minister said Nigeria is not facing the challenges of disease burden but the confidence the world imposed on the country and the effective utilization of resources made available by partners to contain theses diseases.
