After the awe-inspiring American elections that Africans followed with renewed interest - and for some, self-interest - a question arose from a discussion at the American Cultural Centre in Windhoek, among Namibians, if the televised American presidential debates are not something we should emulate.
The immediate questions following that is to what extent our political democracy has matured that will make our political leaders feel themselves compelled to subject themselves to such a direct public display, and the more logistical questions like who's to take charge of such events, who's to pay, and who's to broadcast these.
