Bujumbura — An inquiry into the death of the pope's representative in Burundi, Archbishop Michael Courtney, has concluded that he was probably a victim of a gunman looking for food and other supplies.
Archbishop Courtney was serving as the apostolic nuncio to Burundi when he was killed on December 29, 2003, at La Prince Louis Rwagasore Hospital in Bujumbura when assailants ambushed his car.
