Somalia: One Killed in Explosion in Central Town

Beledweyne — -One civilian was killed and three other people including a soldier of the Islamic Courts Union were wounded in Beledweyne in central Somalia overnight, witnesses said on Saturday.

Residents said the explosion occurred in Beledweyne Bridge where soldiers of the Islamic Courts Union that controls the city keeping guard.

After the explosion soldiers from the Islamic Courts Union reached in the area and the circulation of the traffic and people stopped.

The soldiers have conducted search operations in the town and there is no group that claimed the responsibility of the arrack.

The situation of Hiran region in central has been volatile for the last three weeks. Al-Shabab and pro government local militias fought in Mahas district in Hiran region.

The Shabab took control of the town but there is fear that a fighting could start again in the town.
