Kampala — Eagles Production singer and PAM Awards artiste of the year, 2007/8, Ronald Mayinja must have handsomely reaped from his reign as top musical dog. The Africa singer recently opened his sh700m Roma Motel in Nankinga Zone, Bunamwaya.
The singer also opened up a fully stocked (Roma) hardware shop in Kireka and bought omni buses to start up a new transport company. But that's not all. Snoops say plans are under way for Mayinja to turn his Makindye Lukuuli home into a textile firm for school uniforms.
Meanwhile, bandmate Mesach Semakula, who already owns numerous estates around town recently sold off his home in DK, Namasumba and beefed it up to buy a swanky storied house off Salaama Road in Makindye.
Geoffrey Lutaaya, whom we already told you owns the sh700m-worth Durban Motel in Najjanakumbi, recently cleared his rental houses along Busabala Road and is currently constructing another hotel there. He also bought land in Munyonyo where, we hear, he plans to set up a mega pad.
In a recent media scandal that pitted the directors of the band (Mesach Semakula, Ronald Mayinja and Geoffrey Lutaaya) against the 'employees' - (singers Catherine Kusasira, Haruna "Kitooke' Mubiru, Stecia Mayanja and Charles Sekyewa), the former alleged that the latter "exploited" them.
