Harare — THE MDC-T yesterday asked Sadc to convene an urgent extraordinary summit to deal with what it sees as the "outstanding" issues in the Global Political Agreement, principally the positions of Reserve Bank governor and Attorney-General.
It made the call at the end its two-day ninth annual conference held in Harare, where it also reiterated its committment to the inclusive Government and said it would not pull out.
At its meeting a fortnight ago in Masvingo, the MDC-T referred all outstanding issues in the GPA to Sadc and the African Union for arbitration.
This was despite the fact that leaders of Zanu-PF and the two MDC formations had not declared a deadlock on the outstanding issues.
The MDC-T wants Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Dr Gideon Gono and Attorney-General Mr Johannes Tomana to resign but President Mugabe, Zanu-PF, service chiefs and war veterans have said the pair would not leave their posts because they were appointed in terms of the Constitution.
"Aware of the conflict and divisive effect of the issues of the Attorney-General and the Reserve Bank governor have become in national discourse, conference calls that in the national interests, (Mr) Johannes Tomana and (Dr) Gideon Gono must resign forthwith," it said.
President Mugabe last week said Dr Gono was not going anywhere adding that the central bank governor had done much to ensure that Zimbabwe remained on its feet inthe face of illegal sanctions imposed by the West.
Zanu-PF said the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West were the outstanding issue and not the appointments of Dr Gono and Mr Tomana.
At its Politburo meeting last week, Zanu-PF said it fully supported President Mugabe's stance on Dr Gono as the sanctions, and not the central bank chief, must go.
The MDC-T was critical of the "slow" implementation of the 100-Day Plan, slow pace of media reform, continued high and multiple tariffs by State bodies and parastatals and the existence of "ghost workers" on the Government payroll.
It restated its commitment to the crafting of a new constitution and urged the inclusive Government to take on board concerns by civic society.
The MDC-T said it would actively participate and mobilise in the constitutional-making process.
It said free and fair elections should be held at the conclusion of the constitution-making process.
The MDC-T said it was concerned with the plight of victims of political violence and called on the inclusive Government to address their welfare through the national healing process.

The sooner that these issues are resolved the better. It will be a major step forward to the reserection of the economy which Bob wrecked. The Giddy Tomato issue is a big stumbling block no doubt about it. The govt as a whole should of made the desicion to appoint the two people to the positions of utmost importance and not a unilateral decleration by an evil dictator. Bob is not used to having to answer to the country for his actions and he is finding more and more tht he has to answer many questions from many different quarters. But will sadc take Bob to task? No. Botswana might be the only one to voice it's concern.
Now, Western countries are calling for another Sadc summit thru their proxies in MDC-t..Sadc will just ignore this western inspired nonsense by tsvangi and his goons becoz they are well aware that the real outstanding issues are the illegal economic sanctions Mdc called for,, salaries for civil servants, service delivery, health, education , tourism, food security, agriculture preparations etc..As discredited western proxies, tsvangi and his cohorts are wasting their time in wishfully thinking that Sadc will buy their nonsense and intervene becoz they know Mdc is just a proxy force doing the bidding of its Western principals. Gono is being targeted by the United States for supporting land reform and standing in the way of Western economic sanctions when predictions were that Zimbabwe would collapse in a matter of months..Sadc and the AU are the guarantors of the inclusive Government ; But they will not impose or remove any appointed individual in an independent state..Sadc will also remember that Gono and Tomana were constitutionally appointed by President R.G.M at a time when the Mdc was refusing to join the inclusive government and disrespecting SADC...Mdc lacks a clear understanding of these fundamental aspects of the GPA, hence this irrational behaviour...SADC will just ignore this nonsense..
Takanya (aka Mabhiza)
The MDC calling for an SADC summit to resolve this issue has absolutely nothing to do with western countries, and simply everything to do with Mugabe going against the agreement made between all parties under the SADC's supervision. The agreement clearly states that the roles of Gono and Tomana must be agreed by all 3 parties. Nothing could be more black and white than this not being the case. As you say, "Sadc and the AU are the guarantors of the inclusive Government", and as one party hasnt followed this agreement, its up to the SADC to ensure they do.
You continually state that the MDC called for 'illegal econominc sanctions' where this is simply a ploy by yourself to take the focus off what the real issues are in Zimbabwe today, ie getting rid of a corrupt and murderous government. The fact that you want the thief Gono to stay shows us that you are also a corrupt individual. The guy even took out an advertisement himself in the Herald to admit to taking funds from private accounts to pay for the government. And there is the $7.3 million USD he took from the Global fund that was supposed to be targeded for those that are starving and need to eat.
The fact remains that the MDC never called for sanctions against the people of Zimbabwe. I've asked you to prove your assertion many many times, and not once have you been able to do so, leading us all to know that you are simply lying and promoting propoganda against the government of Zimbabwe at a time where people of Zimbabwe need to come together to support this government to get the country back on the right track.
Why do you wish to divide the country?
AWT - that those guys ALWAYS BLAMING THE WEST - i am sure the neighbours are also anxious about what is going on - - JUST A BAD HABIT ALWAYS BLAMING THE WEST!!! people like whacky tacky do not have a leg to stand on!!!
Awt;
Being guarantors does not give SADC or AU the right to dictate to us how we should run our affairs in Zimbabwe. We are a sovereign nation that should be allowed to chart its own way forward. The only way to resolve the so-called outstanding issues is dialogue of the parties and not referring them to SADC. This is because SADC will only come to facilitate dialogue and not impose their will on us. It only goes to show that MDC has not divorced itself from the baby mentality that has characterized it since formation. They are always portraying the cry-baby mentality when the push comes to shove.
The fact remains that MDC called and campaigned for sanctions throughout Europe and North Africa. They even helped draft the demonic ZDERA. Even if you refuse to accept it, the culprits know it very well that they are the ones who brought Zimbabwe to where it is today. They singlehandedly killed Zimbabweans and destroyed the economy in order to get into power.
Tsvangirai and Biti have acknowledged their roles in the imposition of sanctions on Zimbabwe and its people. Had they not been at the forefront of calling for sanctions on Zimbabwe, imperialists would not have had the guts to kill our people the way they did since 2000 when sanctions were imposed on the ordinary people of Zimbabwe.
You need to go back to school to understand how the Reserve Bank of a country functions. Dr Gono did not steal a penny from public funds, personal and corporate accounts. When a Central Bank says it has so much money in its reserves (import cover), the money includes FCAs belonging to individuals and companies. The reserve bank has the right to use such moneys for or to the benefit of the country and returning it on demand. This is what happened to the Global Fund or any other funds that were used by the government. The money was returned when the Fund demanded it. So, is there any thieving there? A big NO!!
In any case the money was used to support government (not Zanu-pf) efforts to empower the people of Zimbabwe. Zimbabweans today are the proud owners of land, mechanization equipment, they got inputs like fertilizer, seeds and what have you. All this was as a result of Dr Gono's vision of an economically independent and strong people. As far as I am concerned, sanctions are the outstanding issues for Zimbabwe to take off the ground.
Mabhiza would not divide the people of Zimbabwe because he is Zimbabwean. I would never want us to be divided because I am Mwana WeVhu. Wafawarova, Zvayi and all those patriotic Zimbabweans will NEVER want to divide themselves because they are Zimbabweans. How can one divide oneself?
Who then wants to divide the people of Zimbabwe and is benefiting from the division. It is only you Awt because you have nothing to lose by having us fight each other. In fact you have everything to gain because you remain posted to do the CIA dirty work as long as there is this bickering between Zimbabweans.
Who else would want to divide independent people except a former or current colonizer? Britain as a former colonizer, Awt as a current colonizer and America as an imperialist empire would be happy to divide us for their benefit which has nothing to do with the ordinary people of Zimbabwe.
