Johannesburg — The price of petrol will increase by 17c/l , instead of the initial 16c/l that the department announced on Friday. The department said it had also revised the wholesale price of diesel.
Petrol in Gauteng will increase to R7,52/l , up from the previous R7,35/l .
Diesel with 0,05% sulphur will decrease by 11,5c/l and not 12,9c/l as announced on Friday. Diesel with 0,005% sulphur would decrease by 12,5c/l instead of 13,9c/l .
The 12c reduction in the price of illuminating paraffin announced on Friday has not been changed.
The department's spokesman, Bheki Khumalo, yesterday attributed the changes to mistakes in the calculation of this month's adjustment.
"It is a mistake on our part. We apologise for that ," Khumalo said.
On Friday, the department also announced that the transportation costs of petroleum products transported by pipeline from Durban to inland areas would decrease by between 0,5c/l and 1,4c/l .
This followed last month's decision by the National Energy Regulator of SA to decrease the average pipeline tariff 10,38%.
