The authorities of Federal Medical Centre Katsina on Tuesday said the centre was renovated with the N70 million appropriated to it in 2006 by the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Office.
Dr Usman Abdulmajid, Acting Medical Director of the centre, said this when Hajiya Amina Az-Zubair, Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs, visited the hospital.
Represented by Dr Bello Suleman, Head of Clinical Services, Abdulmajid said the centre was among those that benefited from the MDGs projects in 2006.
He said N13.9 million was spent on the paediatric clinic while the old paediatrics complex was renovated with N2.4 million.
According to him, construction of labour room theatre gulped N15.5 million while a special baby unit was built at N8.9 million.
"Supply of Generator set costs N4.3 million, paediatrics care equipment was purchased for N5.6 million while rehabilitation of maternity complex gulp N2.3million.
"Others were the supply of maternity complex equipment at N11million and purchase of computers at N2.4 million," he said.
He commended the federal government and the MDGs office for providing the funds and urged that the centre be considered for other projects.
Earlier, Hajiya Amina Az-Zubair , Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs, had said her team was at the centre to ascertain the level of work done.(NAN)
