South Africa: Road Closures Ahead of Parliament's Opening

Many of the roads surrounding Parliament will be closed from 9am today, as Parliament opens for President Jacob Zuma's State of the Nation Address.

Commuters have been urged to avoid the area if possible.

Between 9am and 2pm Adderley Street, Bureau Street, Spin Street, Government Avenue, Roeland Street and Gallery Lane will be closed.

The route between the Grooteschuur Estate and Cape Town will be closed between 10am and 10:50am.

Road control from midday to 2pm will take place at Roeland Street between Plein Street and Oswald Pirow. Oswald Pirow between Roeland and the N1 will also be affected. N1 incoming between Oswald Pirow and Bartholomeus Dias will also be affected.

Road Control from midday to 5pm will occur on roads around the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
