Lubango — The government will create soon a commercial network for sale of building materials, in order to support the national programme of urbanism and housing that foresees the building of over one million houses by 2012, Angop has learnt.
This was announced on Thursday in Huila province, by the minister of Urbanism and Housing, José Ferreira, during a meeting he had with members of the local staff, usinessmen, representatives of the civil society, under his two-day visit to the region.
The Cabinet minister said that this move will make possible that promoters of real estate sector, mainly those linked to the Government housing programme, have access and can buy materials in low prices.
"The Government does not want to monopolize the purchase of these materials abroad, but this network will define the prices and the private sector will have to follow the State commercial network", he said.
He also said that in the ambit of the self construction, the government will sell kits of building materials, through a support programme, named "Nossa Casa", in which the kits for 80 square metres rural houses will cost USD 13,000 and for the urban areas from 100 to 200 metres will worth USD 22,000.
He also said that the government has decided to liberalise the purchase of cement from abroad.
