Angola: Heavy Rains Leave 225 Famlies Homeless in Bembe District

Uíge — At least 225 families were made homeless in Bembe district, 135 kilometres off Uije city, following heavy rains that hit the region during the last days of May, Angop has learnt.

The local deputy administrator, João Pedro da Cruz, said the victims are currently accommodated in residences of relatives and friends, adding that the administration has not yet means to support them, awaiting thus for an aid from the Government.

The rains also destroyed 300 plantations of peanuts, sweet potatoes, manioc, maize and beans.
