Uganda: Congolese Flock Hoima

Kampala — THE big number of refugees from the DR Congo arriving at Kyangwali Settlement Camp in Hoima is worrying.

"We are receiving between 70 to 100 Congolese refugees daily. The influx is compounding the problem of lack of food," Rashid Mbuga, a monitoring assistant with the Norwegian Refugee Council, said on Friday.

The influx follows clashes between soldiers of rebel leader Laurent Nkunda and Congolese troops.

The camp was set up by the Government in the 1960s and occupies 91 square kilometres.

On Friday about 10,000 refugees got a donation worth sh86m from Action Aid Uganda.
