Tunis — In a communiqué released on Thursday, the Ministry of communication technologies announces that following the international call for tenders for the attribution of a license for a new land and mobile telephone 2G/ 3G telecom operator, two offers by leading international operators were submitted.
They are respectively France Telecom and Turkcell in partnership with Tunisian companies and investors. The deadline for the submission of the offers was set on May 20, 2009.
The communiqué adds that the participation of such major telecom groups testifies to the trust the country enjoys among foreign investors, as well as its attractiveness and its favourable business climate. It also shows a strong adherence to Tunisia's development perspectives in the ICT sector.
The communiqué notes that in line with the announced planning, the processing and evaluation of the bids will take part following the ruling procedures mentioned in the international call for tenders.
