The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Obong Ufot Ekaette, has said that skills acquisition and development centres would soon be set up to enable the training of the youths, particularly militants, who will accept the amnesty granted by the Federal Government.
The Minister made the remarks in Abuja while receiving a delegation of members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Committee on Niger Delta led by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Nestor Binabo.
Ekaette charged the lawmakers to use all the resources at their disposal to create a conducive atmosphere in their states and the Niger Delta in general so that all the infrastructural facilities earmarked for 2009 budget year would be provided without hindrance.
He condemned kidnapping, bunkering and other acts of banditry going on in the region which he said had affected the speed of development in the area.
He admitted that unemployment was at the core of all the crises in the region, adding that his Ministry would work vigorously in tackling the problem under the skill acquisition and development programmes.

Judging by similar happenings in oher parts of the world, president Yar'adua's stance on miltants to voluntarily lay down their arms is either POLITICAL IMMATURITY OR CAREFREE ATTITUDE OR BOTH. REAL LEADERSHIP IS LACKING.
