Windhoek — The oldest basin committee in Namibia, the Kuiseb Basin Management Committee, will be holding the Kuiseb Basin Stakeholders Workshop
The workshop will take place on Friday, June 12 at a camp approximately 35 km south-east of Walvis Bay, near Rooibank.
The KBMC started out as the Environmental Learning and Action in the Kuiseb (ELAK) project back in 2001 - to bring people within the Kuiseb Basin together to identify and implement plans for the sustainable development of the basin.
Until today, interested parties in the project under committee members have worked together to introduce, test and implement integrated water resource management measures through the basin management approach.
With nearly eight years of operation, this stakeholder workshop of KBMC will highlight what has been achieved since 2001.
The platform will give participants an opportunity to raise their concerns and indicate issues that need to be addressed in future.
Committee members will also give feedback to the meeting on what has been done in their particular areas.
For example, Andre Brummer from Walvis Bay Municipality will give feedback on water management in Walvis Bay in relation to the Kuiseb.
