Johannesburg — A WORLD-class event requires a first-class venue and the Peter Mokaba Stadium and Sports Complex is just that.
Nearing completion, the new stadium will be another spectacular Polokwane icon. Magnificent to behold, this outstanding structure will seat 40000 fans, 5000 VIPs and 1000 officials at each of the matches it is appointed to host.
The R1bn project created jobs for 300 builders and labourers in the city and the upgrading of security, catering, interpretation centres and accommodation venues have also had a positive financial impact on the city. Guide centres will also be housed nearby and at the airport.
SA has proven it is capable of hosting global events, among them World Cup Cricket, the 1995 Rugby World Cup, the UN- backed World Summit for Sustainable Development, the World Twenty20 cricket championships and the recent Indian Premier League.
The Soccer World Cup is the biggest event so far for Polokwane but the city is determined to give the world a spectacle worth watching and its visitors a time so memorable they will soon return for more.
The 2010 Soccer World Cup will run from June 11 to July 11.
Match No 6 -- Group C C3 will play C4
