Uganda: Iryn Unveils New Album Tonight

Kampala — FRANCE -BASED Ugandan artiste, Iryn Namubiru, will unveil her new album album, Bonna Obasinga, at Hotel Africana tonight.

Iryn will hold two other concerts at Colline Hotel Mukono tomorrow and Gaba Beach on Sunday. The launch will feature popular singers like Jose Chameleone, Ragga Dee, Bobi Wine, Radio and Weasel, Ronald Mayinja, among others.

The eight-track album includes songs like Kingambe, Samwa Samwa, Nina Omwana, Bandeke Netale, Dance Floor, Ninakupenda, Mukwano Gwaffe, Obulamu Bwa Kiseera and Bonna Obasinga, the title track.

Although Iryn's music has had a big impact, some of her fans did not like her old style (Afro-soul). However, she recently took on R&B and Afro-beat to suit their interests.

Like her old hit chartbuster, Nkuweeki, most of the songs on this album are done in R&B style.

Although some music pundits say she should have stuck to Afro-soul, others think her take on Luganda R&B and Afro-beat adds freshness to the local music scene, dominated by similar voices.
