Windhoek — Next Tuesday a collective arts exhibition titled "Six Namibian Artists" will be officially opened at the Upper Gallery of the Namibia National Art Gallery.
According to a press release, the exhibition is also scheduled to be displayed at the GTZ headquarters in Eschborn, Germany, as part of a bigger African exhibition of artists from Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Botswana.
The artists included in this show are Barbara Böhlke, Silke Berens, Maria Caley, Joba Jonathan, Nicky Marais and Filipus Sheehama.
The participating six artists are all professionals as well as art teachers, who work in different media. In general their works reflect a contemporary African style, the theme of the exhibition in Eschborn.
The works to be exhibited next week comprise predominantly of paintings and drawings as well as textiles. It ranges from oil paintings on canvas by Barbara Böhlke and Silke Berens, mixed media work on card by Joba Jonathan, enamel paint on paper and board by Nicky Marais to large oil pastel drawings by Fillipus Sheehama and contemporary textiles stretched on frames by Maria Caley.
The exhibition will only be displayed for one week at the National Gallery prior to being shipped to Eschborn.
To view these art works that will represent Namibia at the exhibition funded by the Federal Republic of Germany, be sure to visit the upper gallery at the National Gallery during the week between 8am and 1pm, or from 2pm to 5pm.
