Ghana: Soldiers Chase Out Press With Guns

Kumasi — MEDIA PERSONNEL in Kumasi were humiliated and sacked on Wednesday, by military personnel, from covering a programme which was supposed to see the First Lady, Mrs. Naadu Mills, interact with victims of the May 28, 2009 Kumasi Central Marker fire outbreak.

The over 40 media men in Kumasi were molested and sacked from covering the programme, which was open to the general public, by armed military officers, saying "we do not need you here," in the presence of some executives of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), and the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC).
