Luanda — The home to the musicians Lourdes Van-Dúenm (Angola) and Miryam Makeba (South Africa) united on Friday evening, at Atlântico cinema, in Luanda, four voices and two countries, in remembrance of the two figures of the African music hall.
In an initiative of the Angolan musician Lina Alexandre, who decided to include in her first show of career a tribute to the two deceased singers, the show counted on the participation of the famous South African musician, Hugh Masekela, as the special invited guest of the quartet that sang some of the hit-songs of the late singers.
With the Angolan young singer São Lourdes starting the event by paying homage to Lourdes Van-Dúnem by interpreting the "Mulher" and "Uxide" tracks, the public in attendance also had the opportunity to watch and liston to Lina Alexandre sing "Ngongo ya biluka", also of the Angolan and the trio (Bela Chicola, Lina Alexandre and Hugh Masekela) that sang Miriam Makeba's "Malaika" and "Pata Pata" hit-tracks.
The famous South African musician, Hugh Masekela, who remembered the former colleague of profession and wife, took stage and showed that he is a great dancer for about 20 minutes.
Bearing some musical instruments, Masekela sang some tracks that made him become recognised in the South African and international music arena.
Emotional and contagious, the South African saw his effort recognised when at the end of his performance the Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion, Genoveva Lino, offered him a statue of the "Pensador (thinker)", which is a national symbol.
Before leaving the stage, the public listened to Masekela, who thanked Angola and the Angolan people for the recognition and tribute to his late colleague Miriam Makeba.
