A SOUTH Korean business delegation visiting Namibia last week for four days indicated their interest in Walvis Bay's port facilities.
According to Tunga Mboti of the Namibia Investment Centre in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the delegation said Namport's facilities and the Trans-Kalahari Corridor were the perfect gateway to service South Korea's many current and future infrastructure construction projects in southern Africa.
"With the Trans-Kalahari transport network, and the envisioned railway line running from Walvis Bay to Botswana, the delegation acknowledges that this would be good for their business," Mboti said.
Mboti said no agreements have been signed yet, but that all parties are serious about co-operation.
The South Korean delegation consisted of representatives from civil engineering and construction, rail industry, legal services, architectural design, and engineering design and management companies.
This was the fourth South Korean delegation to visit Namibia and one of the highlights of the trip was visiting the Walvis Bay Development Corridor and Namibia's port infrastructure and projects.
