Angola: Government Submits Reviewed Budget to Parliament

16 June 2009

Luanda — The Angolan Government Tuesday here has submitted proposals of reviewed national plan for 2009 and State budget (OGE) for the same period calling for its quick execution.

The documents were delivered to the Angolan Parliament speaker, Fernando da Piedade Dias do Santos, by the Minister of Economy, Manuel Nunes Júnior, who was accompanied by the ministers of Finance, Severim de Morais and Planning, Ana Dias Lourenco.

At the end of the meeting, minister of Finance, Severim de Morais, stated that this review consisted essentially in the establishment of price of oil barrel set at USD 37 against the initial price estimated at USD 55.

According to the Cabinet minister, in this review, the government tried also to adapt economic growth to the responsibilities assumed by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which reduced the production's share of the member countries.

The Finance minister said added that the sudden fall of oil prices, verified late last year, caused a reduction of about 40 percent of the country's revenues.
