Luanda — The foundation stone for the construction of the new cold storage warehouse with the capacity of conserving 500 tonnes of farming products of the Angolan Firm for the Conservation and Trading of Perishable Products "FRESCANGOL", was laid this Tuesday, in Luanda, by the minister of Agriculture, Afonso Pedro Canga.
Estimated at USD five million, the undertaking will serve to preserve farming vegetable products, the director general of FRESCANGOL, Jacinto João, told the press after the foundation stone laying ceremony.
According to the official, the construction of this new cold storage warehouse is part of the company's re-launch programme meant to modernise its infrastructures and renew its fleet of cold trucks.
"Two years ago the firm's management board presented, to the secretary of state for the pubic business sector, an infrastructure reinvestment project, which resulted in the acquisition of 15 trucks and also for the approval of this new cold storage warehouse", he explained.
Set to be concluded next December, the infrastructure shall be built in an area of half a hectare by the Spanish (IESCA) firm specialised in the construction and supply of cold product equipment.
On the other hand, FRESCANGOL makes an average profit of USD 70,000 per month, which corresponds to USD 840,000/year.
Now with 250 employees, FRESCANGOL, a state-run company, operates since 18 September 1984 and has the largest number of cold storage warehouses in Angola.
