Tunis — President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali decorated on Tuesday the well known Tunisian born, Italian actress, Mrs Claudia Cardinale with the insignia of the Grand Ribbon of National Merit in the field of culture.
President Ben Ali hailed the actress's artistic career and the prominent place she occupied for many years on the cinematographic scene, as well as for her deep attachment to Tunisia, land of her early youth.
This recognition is also a token of consideration for her work laden with innovation and a spirit of tolerance.
On her part, Claudia Cardinale expressed her appreciation to President Ben Ali for this tribute, as well as for the solicitude she constantly receives when in Tunisia.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of State, Special Advisor to the President of the Republic and the official spokesman of the Presidency of the Republic.
