LoneStar Cell Communication in collaboration with the United Nations Missions in Liberia,(UNMIL)joined other African Countries yesterday to celebrate the Day of the African Child .
June 16 each year is celebrated in Africa as "The Day of the Africa Child" to commemorate the day several African Children were killed in Soweto, South Africa in 1979.
The LoneStar Communication has decided to observe this day with the children of Liberia to remember this day that it took away the lives of several African Children in 1979.
Addressing reporters Tuesday in Monrovia, Lone Star Marketing Officer, Ibrahim Daramy said the communication company is observing this day with thousands of children from across the country in a grand style, at the SOS Children Village in the Matadi Community.
According to Mr. Daramy, this year's celebration coincides with the company's 21 day project that is on going in the country providing humanitarian services to Liberian institutions
Some of the institutions visited by the company include the Clara Town Health Center, Monrovia Central Prison, and the Liberia National Police(LNP) among others. During the visit to the institutions, LoneStar donated mattresses, wheel chairs, bednets toiletory, motorbikes, rain coats, flashlights, among others.
The United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) provided security for the children who participated in the celebrations of the day.
