Eritrea: President Isaias Inspects Progress of Development Projects in Gash-Barka Region

Barentu — President Isaias Afwerki conducted tour of inspection of development projects in Gash-Barka region, during which he observed the progress made in the implementation of various programs, in general and agriculture infrastructure facilities in particular.

In the course of a visit to major water catchments scheme in Adi-Omar, the President received briefings by experts on the objectives of the undertaking and its contribution to boosting agricultural output.

Commending the accomplishments registered so far through the dedicated efforts of the work force, President Isaias stressed the need to put up additional endeavors so as to complete the task before the onset of the rainy season.

Moreover, the President inspected the progress made in repairing and expanding the Ali-Gidir water diversion scheme at substantial government expenditure. He subsequently visited the Ali-Gidir Agricultural Project, and the infrastructure being put in place there. He also exchanged views with experts on ways of reinforcing the ongoing activities.

Later, President Isaias conducted a tour of development projects in Golij sub-zone where he inspected the water diversion device under construction and the land being prepared for cultivation. In addition, the President inspected the water purification factory in Alebu, as well as grain and vegetables markets in Barentu town.
