Tunis — A short feature Tunisian movie by Mohamed Ali Nahdhi has won the "Golden Hawk Award" at the 9 th edition of the Rotterdam Film Festival in the Netherlands. The Award is the festival's highest distinction.
The long feature movie Golden Hawk Award went to Algeria's Lyes Ben Salem for his film "The Masquerade".
The movie "Al Machrou" (The project) is Mohamed Ali Nahdhi's first film.
The film features a set of young people from a poor social background against a backdrop of marginalization and delinquency.
Some 50 Arab films were in competition during the festival, including films from Syria, Lebanon, Algeria, Palestine, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.
The festival's long feature movie jury was chaired by the Tunisian producer Dorra Bouchoucha, while another Tunisian producer, Mondher Namri chaired the documentary film jury.
