Angola: National Assembly Prepares Resolution on Problems of Luanda

Luanda — The Angolan Parliament decided last Wednesday to prepare a Resolution on the problems linked to the urbanisation management policy of Luanda city, so as to contribute to the betterment of the quality of the population's living standards.

The proposal was presented by the parliamentary whip of the ruling MPLA party, Bornito de Sousa, during the interpellation session to the provincial governor of Luanda, Francisca do Espírito Santo, about the sectorial policy of the urbanisation mangement of this city.

The document, which was accepted by all parliamentary groups of the Angolan National Assembly, including UNITA who has requested this interpellation, shall be approved in the next plenary session of the Angolan Parliament to be summoned in due time.

The Resolution will comprise the 15 questions of the interpellation presented by the opposition UNITA party, the clarifications of the provincial governor of Luanda and the subsidies of the MPs presented in last Wednesday's debate, so that the Parliament may contribute to reduce the problems of Luanda.

The demolitions of houses in Benfica ward and in Luanda Island constitute the foundation of the 15 questions posed by the parliamentary group of UNITA to Francisca do Espírito Santo.
