Prime Minister Ephraim Inoni yesterday granted an audience to the visiting Commonwealth Parliamentary Association delegation.
The United Kingdom branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) has pledged to continue supporting Cameroon's members of parliament within and through the Commonwealth and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association on strengthening democracy. The leader of the United Kingdom branch of the CPA, Hon Joan Ryan declared last evening during an audience with Prime Minister Ephraim Inoni.
The audience was one of the last phases of their visit to Cameroon that enable them discuss with some government officials, members of parliament and visit the Limbe Botanic Gardens and Zoo, the University of Buea in the South West Region among others. Hon. Joan Ryan declared to the press after the audience that they discussed with the Prime Minister issues and challenges the country was facing. During their entire visit, she said, they discussed ways of strengthening democracy, shared information on working together to improve democratic institutions and processes. Another key topic examined was how the MPs of Cameroon and United Kingdom could work to ensure that there are fair elections and accountability within the parliamentary democracy of the two countries.
The President of the Cameroon branch of the CPA, Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka and the vice, Hon. Joseph Banadzem accompanied the United Kingdom CPA delegation to the Prime Minister's Office for the audience.
