Luanda — The representative for Africa of the Italian President, Luca Riccardi, stated Thursday in Luanda that the invitation addressed to the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, to attend the G8 Summit, scheduled for July 08-10, is based on the country's respected opinion and great political experience.
"Angola has reaffirmed a courageous peace and the country is developing with great speed", emphasised Luca Buccardi, during a press conference aimed at explaining matters that will be discussed at the G8 meeting, to be held in L'Aquilla (Italy), in honour to earthquake victims.
The G8, he added, needs the political experience of President José Eduardo dos Santos and it believes that Angola can show other African countries the way towards development.
On the benefits for Africa during the meeting of the Group of the World's Most Developed Countries, Luca Buccardi argued that his country believes in balance, and African states should participate in the debates about global issues.
The L'Aquilla issues are African aspects of global character and that is why it requires the participation of African countries, having stressed that Africa has much to gain with the G8.
On the other hand, the source noted that the world cannot exclude any continent in solving global problems.
