The week long fashion and textile, solo/ specialised exhibition of the Lagos state chamber of commerce and industry last weekend, came to a climax with the hosting of a fashion show at the LCCI ultra modern complex in Alausa business district in Ikeja.
The fashion show sponsored by Nichemtex a textile manufacturing company was aimed at promoting the fabric and also encourage designers to show case the various possibilities with the very colourful ankara fabric.
The Lagos based designers that featured at the modest fashion show include Finicky Stitches, Frankerin and Princess Latifat. The trio featured a short collection of contemporary outfits made from ankara and spiced with other western fabrics and accessories. The designers went from day wear to evening wear. The models led by winner of the Catwalk Model and Miss Galaxy, Sandra Law, did justice to the collection as they carried the clothes nicely on the make shift runway.
Excitement was created for the select guests when the likes of Mrs Abba Folawiyo and the Iya Oge of Lagos, Chief Mrs Opral Benson, took to the catwalk in a mock show living the audience in stitches as they clapped and cheered.
Chairman of the trade promotions board, Mr Goody Ibru commended the organisers for putting together saying that one of the ways to fight the dumping of fake goods in Nigeria is to support our industries.
